Personal Values
I am a young woman whose always had big dreams and lots of ambition. I believe great difficulties may be surmounted by patience and perseverance. So, I credit my academic achievements to tenacity, fortitude, and a strong sense of purpose.

Why did you choose to attend Bowie State University?
Bowie State was not my first choice, but I cannot be happier that I came to this university.  I had very low expectations, but I prayed that God would put people in my path who could help shape me into a better person - and that's exactly what happened. Bowie State University is close to home and affordable, but the education I received and the connections I have made here have proven to outweigh those conveniences significantly.

What professor/s has had the most impact on you and why?
Drs. Selassie and Bates had the most impact on me.  They were the first women I saw who had higher education and were free thinkers.  When I met them, I learned that my education could get me somewhere. That was important to me because I learned that my dream to become an empowered African American woman was not foolish, but highly likely.

Next Steps
I am taking the LSAT this October and I want nothing more than to attend a great law school in the Washington, DC area.

What extracurricular activities and community service have made a significant and positive difference in your life?
I did not participate in many extracurricular activities at Bowie State because I had to work a full-time job to put myself through school.  I wish that I had been able to participate in more on-campus events, but working a full-time job and going to school full-time shaped my character in more ways than I could have imagined. I learned how to manage my time wisely and this is a skill I will carry with me forever.
