Keynote Speaker: Maryland Senator C. Anthony Muse

Maryland State Senator C. Anthony Muse is the keynote speaker for Bowie State University's 143rd Commencement on May 16, 2009, at 9 a.m.

Senator Muse represents the 26th legislative district and he serves as Chair of the Prince George's County Senate Delegation.  His committees include the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, Joint Committee on Children, Family and Youth, and Joint Committee on Healthcare Delivery and Finance. In 2007, he was appointed by the Senate President to the National Conference of State Legislatures; and he serves on the Human Service and Welfare Committee, the Maryland Medicaid Advisory Committee and the Task Force to Study Group Homes Education and Placement.

Muse holds a Doctor of Ministry in Church and Community Development from Howard University, a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Morgan State University.

Muse is founder and Senior Pastor of Ark of Safety Christian Church. He is married to Pat Lawson Muse, a news anchor for NBC-4 TV in Washington, D.C. You can read more about Senator Muse by clicking here.   

We anticipate more than 800 Bowie State University students marching across the commencement platform in the Bulldog Stadium to receive their degrees.  They are to be commended for demonstrating diligence and purposeful focus toward achieving a tremendous goal-graduation!
