The Faculty Senate represents faculty interests in the shared governance arena at Bowie State University. There are two faculty organizations, the Senate and the Association. The meetings of the Faculty Association are held once or twice a semester and are open to all faculty members. The Faculty Senate meets every third Thursday of the month during the academic year. Its membership is comprised of elected representatives from every department and at-large members from the schools. Please contact your departmental or at-large faculty senator with any issues or concerns you would like addressed by the University. In October 2008, Nikki E. Owens, a junior at Bowie State University, received a Milton Pericles Darden III Memorial Scholarship from the Scott Lee Foundation during its First Annual Nicole Lynette Scott Lee Memorial Scholarship Awards Reception. 
Dr. David Abrahams is an assistant professor in the Department of Management, Marketing and Public Administration. One of newest members of the Bowie State community, Dr. Abrahams' background is in the fields of program evaluation, information system and business analysis. 
Kendra Simmons, who graduated with honors and a bachelor of science degree in computer technology from Bowie State University in 2004, has joined the prestigious consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton.
