Blood Knot (1961) is a play about two brothers living in a one-room shack in a crumbling section of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. They have different temperaments, but they reaffirm and support each other. Morris is a light-skinned colored man, and Zachariah is a black man. They are half-brothers, sharing the same mother. This revolutionary breakthrough play is an indictment of apartheid and one of Fugard's most celebrated works.
