Black History Month: Lecture on Humanism and Social Rights

Description: This lecture by Dr. Fred Mills will argue that Martin Luther King, Jr. extended the concept of human rights to include the social rights to eduction, health care, housing, and employment and that this would require structural changes in the United States. Mills will relate this to the current growing economic inequality in the U.S. and the Occupy Movement.
Professor Tewodross "Tee" is an associate professor for the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Bowie State. He holds a bachelor's degree in art/photographic media from Morgan State and a master's of fine arts degree in imaging and digital arts from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Sherece West has risen far from her youth growing up in a public housing project in inner-city Baltimore. She is the president of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in Little Rock, AK, a $150 million philanthropy founded by a former Arkansas governor.
My experience at BSU has been positive. I have had the opportunity to learn from great professors who are truly interested in seeing me excel.
