(BOWIE, Md.) – To meet the needs of school systems around the region, Bowie State University’s College of Education is launching three signature programs to prepare educators for high-demand areas where there is a critical gap in qualified professionals.
The programs offer educators the opportunity to complete graduate education coursework at Bowie State that will provide them with the knowledge, skills and experiences to complete required professional certifications or continuing education units (CEUs) to advance their careers. Bowie State graduate education programs are ranked among the nation's best, according to a new U.S. News & World Report ranking.
The launch of the programs coincides with the Women’s History Month Forum event, featuring a conversation historical impact and contributions in education among five female schools superintendents from around the region. At that program, attendees will hear about the College of Education’s exciting new initiatives and be encouraged to complete the online registration forms to receive an official program application:
Conditionally licensed teachers will learn the skills needed to become fully certified educators through the Summer Institute, offered in response to broad teacher shortages in Maryland.
Individuals interested in earning a professional athletic director certification through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) are encouraged to attend the region’s only five-course leadership program leading to this certification. Educators, coaches and administrators who participate in the Athletics Director Academy earn continuing education units (CEUs), along with the Registered Athletics Administrator certificate.
Experienced educational leaders with at least a master’s degree are invited to participate in a three-day institute focused on design thinking though interactive learning. The interdisciplinary seminar addresses leadership ideas, values, cultures and contemporary issues that affect global society and education.
