Bowie State Ranks Among Md.’s Top Producers of Minority Degrees

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University continues to rank as one of Maryland’s top five institutions graduating African-Americans with bachelor’s degrees in science and technology fields, according to the 2017 Top 100 Producers of Minority Degrees rankings published by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

Diverse Students and Professor Huddle Around Computer ScreenAmong Maryland four-year colleges and universities, Bowie State ranks as the #1 producer of African-American graduates with bachelor’s degrees in the nursing field. Bowie State is #2 among the state’s institutions graduating African-Americans with bachelor’s degrees in the computer science field. The university ranks third in the state for the number of African-American graduates with bachelor’s degrees in the mathematics field.

Diverse annually produces its Top 100 rankings of the colleges and universities that confer the most degrees to minority students, based on its analysis of data from U.S. Department of Education reports submitted by the institutions.
