Earth Days 2017

Earth Day 2017 is Saturday, April 22.  Bowie State joins in the celebration by hosting our own events through Climate Control Coordinating Committee (C4) and BSU Student Green Ambassadors, as well as other on campus departments and organizations.

BSU Earth Days 2017 will consist of week long sustainability events geared towards student awareness and creative expression, campus beautification, presentation discussion, and awarding winners of sustainability themed contests.  See some of the events below:


Wednesday, April 19

C4--Earth Day Poetry Slam/Recyclemania Ceremony

Student Center Main Atrium, 12:30-1:45pm

Participants will share poetry and spoken word relating to natural elements and eco-friendly concepts. Participants must sign up in the Bowie Card office.  All participants will receive a nominal prize but the top 3 winners will receive cash prizes. Speaking parts must be 2-5 minutes.

Thursday, April 20

C4---Environmental Justice speaker

Library Special Collections, 3:30-5:00pm

Check out Ms. Vernice-Miller Travis, a renowned environmental justice activist who currently resides in Bowie, explain her first hand knowledge of some of the policies and practices that are environmentally unjust which are occurring in our own backyards.
