Welcome to the Military Resource Center
The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our
country has earned them our lasting gratitude. -- Jeff Miller
Dear Student Veteran,
We are pleased to welcome you to the Bowie State University Military Resource Center (MRC), located in Suite 1126 in the Thurgood Marshall Library. The MRC opened in October 2012 to provide a one stop location for veterans to come and find solutions to issues and hurdles that may impede their academic progress. The intent of the MRC is to be a single Point of Contact, which a veteran may use to find solutions being sought. We are here to assist.
The MRC has developed linkages with the academic, social and behavioral services on campus designed to assist you through your progress to degree. Once you make contact with the MRC, the unit will guide you to your needed destination for issue resolution.
We are also a location to promote networking - networking among your fellow veterans, networking among your fellow students and networking among the local, regional community at large. We want to make sure that you have the opportunity to learn and connect beyond the classroom and the boundaries of the campus in order to become a part of the larger community.
America's veterans embody the ideals upon which America
was founded more than 229 years ago. - Steve Buyer
The MRC space is designed to promote interaction, study and conversation. If you need to study or have a meeting or just need a place to ‘hang out,’ the MRC may be the location. We also hold a series of workshops and discussion sessions (Brown bags) to provide information and to learn from you. We will keep the schedule on the website of meetings, workshops and other activities developed for you and your peers.
We look forward to serving you at the MRC over the semesters. We consider our unit to be only at the beginning of our service to the men and women of the military. We have a long path to hike that will allow us to develop our resources and refine our services.
We often take for granted the very things
that most deserve our gratitude. -Cynthia Ozick
