Operated by BSU Theatre and the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, WonderWorks is a fledgling company which seeks to become regionally recognized for its innovative approach to engaging a multicultural youth audience in exploring the untold stories of the human experience.

The two-fold mission of WonderWorks is to (1) create interactive theatre that engages young audiences through entertaining plays and presentations that encourage reflection on ethical choices and stimulate constructive self-expression and (2) provide opportunities for Bowie State University undergraduate theatre students to gain practical experience in various aspects of creating theatre for young audiences.

Initial program goals of WonderWorks include creating an interactive theatre for children and youth based at BSU, engaging a diverse audience of underserved children and youth in Central Maryland and the D.C.-Baltimore corridor, expanding theatre production and management opportunities for BSU undergraduate students, and developing a TYA educational component and corresponding curriculum at BSU.

There's no Prince Charming to chase, only the chance to live out the dream of becoming a beat-mixing queen in this girl-powered, music and dance update of the classic fairy tale. Cinderella lives in her stepmother's basement, practicing her craft at the turntable, since girls aren't allowed to DJ. But when the super-famous J Prince announces a contest to play his latest jam, Cinderella disguises herself as a boy to compete, and with some help from her Fairy Godmother Hoperah, she gets her chance to spin -- at least until midnight. Theatre for Young Audiences. Recommended for all ages.
