French (minor)

The French minor offers students learning experiences that help them understand, speak, read, write, and listen in the target language with a high level of proficiency. The French language minor will enable students to compete in area businesses and industries with international branches.

Core Requirements

  • FREN 201 Second Year French I
  • FREN 202 Second Year French II
  • FREN 301 French Conversation I
  • FREN 302 French Conversation II
  • FREN 326 Francophone Cultures and Literatures
  • FREN 327 French Culture and Civilization
  • FREN 340 French for Special Purposes (Business, Communication, etc.)

One of the following courses focusing on French culture and literature

  • FREN 303 Introduction to French Literature I
  • FREN 304 Introduction to French Literature II
  • FREN 326 Francophone Cultures and Literatures

Recommendations: FREN 201, 202, 301, and 302 should be taken in sequence before proceeding to other courses. A maximum of six transfer credits will be accepted provided they were completed during the two year period preceding enrollment at Bowie State University.
