Smith Vidal Writing Center helps students prepare for the English Proficiency Examination (EPE) by offering one-on-one tutoring, review of failed tests, preparation materials, and in-center workshops. Every undergraduate student must take the EPE to graduate. We recommend that you register for and take the EPE upon successful completion of English 102 or, if you are a transfer student, in your first semester at Bowie.
The EPE is an essay test designed to assess each student's ability to construct and develop a logical argument. Students must register for the test through Bulldog Connection. The university's Testing Services administers the exam several times during the spring and fall semesters. Visit Testing Services for answers to frequently asked questions about the EPE.
Be sure to contact us to schedule an EPE tutoring session.
