Lieutenant Colonel Thurinton W. Harvell, Senior is a native of Carson, Virginia. He was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps upon graduating from Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in 1988. In 1995, he was awarded a Masters of Science Degree in Leadership Development and Counseling from Long Island University, C.W. Post, Long Island, New York.
His military education includes completion of the Quartermaster Officer’s Basic and the Combined Logistics Officers’ Advance Courses, Fort Lee, Virginia; the Command & General Staff College and the U.S. Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; the Basic Airborne, and Jumpmaster Courses, Fort Benning, Georgia; and the Air Assault Course at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
