Academic Advisement & Assistance

Fall 2016 Freshmen & Transfer Students

All new freshman pre-nursing majors receive academic advisement through the BSU Academic Advisement Center.  Upon achieving a total of 60 academic credits, freshman nursing majors are then advised through the Department of Nursing.

All new transfer pre-nursing majors for the fall or spring semesters must register to participate in the BSU New Student Orientation Program to enroll in semester courses.  Please view the link below to register so that we may assist you.

Transfer pre-nursing majors will all be assigned a department Faculty or Academic Adviser according to the date posted on the nursing homepage at the start of each academic semester. Once advisement has been assigned, new students should visit the department to access our student advisement log to identify their adviser and begin scheduling appointments for advisement services.  Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to visit our office located in the Center for Learning & Technology (CLT Suite 202).

Current BSU Nursing Students

All current nursing majors must email their faculty adviser to schedule an advisement appointment.

Prospective Students

All undergraduate and graduate nursing program inquiries are required to be sent via email to the Nursing Academic Adviser, Mr. Kenneth Dovale at kdovale@bowiestate.edu

Due to a high volume of program inquiries, we cannot accept walk-in appointments.  All inquiries must first be sent via email and our adviser will respond within 48hrs to field all questions and concerns.  Appointments will be scheduled thereafter.

Please know the BSU Department of Nursing does not provide unofficial evaluation of academic credits.  All transfer credit evaluations of general education courses are officially conducted through the BSU Office of Admissions.  Prospective students will need to contact the BSU Office of Admissions and speak with an Admissions Counselor to address the articulation of all transfer courses.

Open House

Each semester, Bowie State University (BSU) offers Open House and Transfer Informational Sessions for prospective students to visit the campus and meet with various representatives from our academic departments.  These sessions are organized through the BSU Office of Admissions.  Please select the link below to access the upcoming scheduled dates and register for attendance.
