Students have rolled up their sleeves to beautify the campus and attended events to raise awareness about green-living habits this week during Earth Week events.
The Towers residence hall was named the first-place winner of the Recyclemania contest at today’s wrap-up celebration in the Student Center cafeteria. Haley Hall won second place, and Tubman Hall was third. Students living on campus had competed to recycle the most over the course of eight weeks. The winning residence hall will enjoy a pizza party to recognize their efforts. View photos from the Earth Week events.
On Monday, volunteers representing their campus organizations weeded and planted flowers in campus green spaces during the Adopt-a-Flower Bed event, kicking off the week of activities. Each participating students group pledged maintain their flower beds.
The Earth Week events end with the bi-annual Shred Day event on Friday, April 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Henry Circle. Shred Day is a secure way to destroy old University records and paper documents. All materials will be securely shredded and its paper recycled.
