Thousands get a glimpse of BSU science programs

BSU professors and students leading hands-on science activities at last weekend’s USA Science and Engineering Festival exposed thousands of visitors to the university’s programs in virtual reality, cybersecurity, chemistry and biology. View photos from the event.



Three BSU student-athletes were recognized as individual champions at the 2014 CIAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Virginia State University. Brelyn Finley competed in the women’s shot put and won first place in the event, marking her fourth straight conference shot put championship. Vernesse Thomas-Quickly won first place in the women’s high jump. Rhema Ndjami competed in the men’s 5,000-meter run and took first place. BSU placed fifth overall at the championships.

Dr. Monique Akassi, assistant professor of English composition and rhetoric, will be the keynote speaker at the eighth-grade graduation at the Columbus Preparatory School for Girls in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, May 27. She was recommended to address the graduating class by a parent of a student at the school, who was interested in her work to initiate social media forums about preparing children for success in academia.
