Experiential Learning and High-Impact Practices
Professional Development Series

Please register below to join us on April 3rd, April 6th, and April 12th for a professional development series on experiential learning (EL) and High-Impact Practices (HIPs). These interactive sessions are the second part in a series, curated specifically for Bowie State University. These sessions will explore how experiential learning improves student learning outcomes and how EL and HIPs can be effectively implemented in your classroom and around campus.

Each session will include a 15-60 minute presentation from a nationally recognized EL/HIPs expert, discussion, and workshop activities. Topics include:
  • HIPs Foundations (continued): George Kuh, Cythia Alby, or Lavar Charleston

    • HIPs Pathways in the curriculum (continued): Carina Beck, Cythia Alby, or Mary-Ann Winkelmes

    • HIPs Pathways in the co-curriculum (continued): Krys Strand or Erik Montenegro

  • Deans and Chairs: Leadership and Accountability for EL Participation:

    • Engaging faculty in Experiential Ed and HIPs: 1-2 BSU faculty (to be announced) and Krys Strand

    • Deep dive on course-embedded PBL with SOC: 1-2 BSU faculty (to be announced) and an SOC Representative

    • Assessing HIPs: Carina Beck or George Kuh
