As the Director of the Career Development Center, April Johnson provides leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of the department's programs, services, policies and procedures. She develops and implements strategies for expanding, marketing and promoting the office and oversees a staff of four professionals and several undergraduate student workers.

Prior to her arrival at Bowie State University, she served as Director of Career Services at McDaniel College; Assistant Director of Career Services at the University of Maryland University College; Career Development Coordinator and Psychology Department Adjunct Faculty at Anne Arundel Community College; and Assessment Facilitator for the Baltimore City's Mayor's Office of Employment Development.

Ms. Johnson's summary of qualifications include 21 years of successful experience in managing, developing, facilitating, and evaluating Career Counseling and Advisement, Employer Relations and Recruitment, Student Employment, and Experiential Learning programs. In addition, she has 15 years of experience in staff training and supervision, policy development and evaluation, fiscal and budget management, strategic planning, and college-level teaching. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor and Distance Credentialed Counselor. Ms. Johnson is qualified to administer and interpret Level "B" psychological tests, and has extensive knowledge and training of career development theories and practices.

Ms. Johnson received her Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) from The Florida State University and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She holds memberships in the National Career Development Association, the MD Career Development Association, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and the National Association of Colleges and Employers.


Employer Services Manager

As the Employer Services Manager, Mrs. Wigglesworth manages all aspects of the Career Development Center’s employer relations programs, which aim to expand the recruiting efforts of outside companies and organizations and connect them with BSU’s students and alumni. She oversees the on-campus recruiting program, our online job and internship system, and our employer sponsorship program. In addition, she conducts employer site visits to generate new internship and job opportunities, as well as, plan, coordinate, promote and carry-out major events including the Fall and Spring Career Fairs and the Teacher Recruitment Day.

Ms. Wigglesworth has broad and extensive in human resources.  Prior to employment at Bowie State University, Mrs. Wigglesworth was Equal Employment Officer for the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.  In this position she managed and coordinated the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Unit.  While in this position she implemented the Bureau of Labor Statistics' first Diversity Intern Program and launched numerous partnerships with minority colleges and universities to increase the diversity and talent in the agency.

Ms. Wigglesworth worked in several other positions in the U.S. Department of Labor.  With the Bureau of Labor Statistics, she was an Employment Development Specialist chiefly responsible for establishing and managing the Bureau of Labor Statistics' first Minority College Recruitment Program, conducting training and counseling employees on career opportunities.  She was a Personnel Management Specialist who advised managers and employees on staffing policies, procedures, personnel rules, regulations and organizational design and restructuring.

She also served as the Senior Advisor to the Director of the Women's Bureau on employment issues related to adolescent women, as well as, coordinated the first nationwide demonstration school-to-work transition training program for young women.

Before moving to the Department of Labor, she was the Assistant Project Director and a Manpower Planner for the City of Atlanta Comprehensive Employment and Training Program.

Mrs. Wigglesworth received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Fisk University, Nashville, TN and her Masters of Arts Degree, in Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Howard University, Washington, D.C. 


Program Coordinator, Cooperative Education and Internships

As the Program Coordinator, Ms. Price manages the day-to-day operations of the University’s Internship and Cooperative Education programs and assists in developing career development center policy related to students who receive academic credit for their experiential learning experience. She works in collaboration with the Deans, academic department chairs, program coordinators, and faculty to identify and cultivate internship and co-op sites appropriate to the needs of their students whereby they can receive academic credit. In addition, she serves as the campus liaison for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund which provides leadership, career, and personal development training for students and staff of public HBCUs.

She possesses a diverse employment background working in the government and non-profit arena.  She provided counseling to children via a non-profit agency and directed the Human Environment Center's (defunct) Minority Environmental Internship Program.  In this capacity, she recruited minority students to intern in environmental organizations (federal and non-profit), assisted with supervisor and mentor training, and planned and coordinated cultural enrichment activities for the interns.


Ms. Price has a BS degree in Political Science (Bowie State College) and a MA degree in Counseling Psychology (Bowie State University). She holds membership in the Maryland Career Development Association, Maryland Association for Counseling and Development, Campus Alumni Association and the BSU National Alumni Association.


Administrative Assistant

Ms. Fevrier provides comprehensive support to the office, its staff and its operations. She manages the center’s email account, paper and electronic filing systems, Career Resource Library materials, and student appointment system. She oversees all of the logistics, registration and payment processes for the center’s events and programs, as well as, facilitates resume critiques. Additionally, she coordinates the Practice Interview Program and the Bowie Business Boutique, the center’s professional clothing closet.

Ms. Fevrier worked as the Program Management Specialist in the Office of Institutional Advancement for three years, prior to starting her position in the Career Development Center.

Ms. Fevrier received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Hunter College in New York and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Management at the University of Maryland University College.
