Christa McAuliffe Residential Community Staff
Vallyn Lea Merrick – Vallyn joined COCM in 2011 as the Director of Housing at Coppin State University, later joining the Bowie State University community as the Director of Affiliated Housing at the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community. Vallyn has worked in the area of housing for over 15 years, holding positions such as Resident Assistant, Graduate Assistant as well as Community Director of a five building undergraduate complex at Howard University in Washington, DC. As a workshop presenter during the 2012 NACAS conference, Vallyn offered insight into the topic of, Why Outsourcing is In: Achieving Housing Success through Partnered Management. Vallyn’s philosophy on student housing focuses on a commitment to student centered customer service while providing a safe and healthy living and learning environment for all residential students. Vallyn is a graduate of Howard University completing a B.A. in Fine Arts and a M.A. in Education.
ReNesha Y. Martin - ReNesha joined COCM in 2012 as the Assistant Director of Resident Services at Christa McAuliffe Residential Community. In her position, Ms. Martin serves as the liaison between the CMRC Management Office and the Office of Residence Life to provide support and communication for students to assist in ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment as well as coordinating the room assignment process for all residents. As a seasoned Student Affairs professional, ReNesha has extended her experience to several institutions including Shepherd University and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where she served as an Area Director, Judicial Coordinator and Resident Director. ReNesha received her undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University with a B.A. in Journalism, and an M.A. from Shepherd University in College Student Development and Administration.
Teron J. Stocks - Teron joined COCM in 2013 as the Assistant Director of Operations at the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community at Bowie State University. In his role, Teron advises residents on financial issues and oversees accounts payable and receivable. Since his time with the company he has worked closely with university offices in order to aid students in navigating the financial process and how that relates to their living and learning experience in CMRC. Prior to joining the COCM family, he was a Coordinator with Options Public Charter School where he also helped develop the S.O.A.R. program which help bridge the gap between high school and college for young African American males. Teron isn’t a stranger to the student housing world, prior to his time at Options Charter School he was a Resident Assistant & Staff Assistant at Howard University. He earned a B.A. from Howard University, and a M.A. in Organizational Development from Trinity University.
