Gladys V. Watson is currently the Director of Residence Life at Bowie State University. She has served as Director since June of 2005.
Ms. Watson is a seasoned Student Affairs professional. Prior to her arriving at Bowie State, she served as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life at Bard College in Annandale, New York. In her seven years at Bard, she was able to institute a number of initiatives which enabled the student services to compete at a higher level with many of the best liberal arts programs in the country.
Other leadership positions she has served in include: Assistant Director for Residential Life at Binghamton University, Residence Coordinator at California State Polytechnic University, Community Development Coordinator at University of California at Davis, Assistant Coordinator for Residence Life at Rutgers College and Resident Hall Director at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Ms. Watson received her undergraduate degree in History and Political Science at Bard College and her graduate degree in Higher Education Student Personnel Administration and Counseling from the State University of New York at Brockport.
Over the past 25 years, in addition to her job responsibilities, Ms. Watson has been actively involved in student affairs issues via her participation in various professional organizations such as ACPA, NASPA, MACUHO, CSPA and ACUHO-I.
For 19 years, Ms. Watson served as a volunteer AIDS counselor and an advocate for battered women—helping them and their children make a fresh start. Ms. Watson is an avid reader. In her spare time, she enjoys reading to children at local libraries and hospitals and working with a myriad of nieces, and nephews to achieve their career aspirations.
MR. KEVIN HUNTER, B.A., MS. ED

Kevin Hunter is currently the Assistant Director for Student Service Initiatives in the Office of Residence Life at Bowie State University. He has served in that position since July 2008.
Prior to his arriving at Bowie State he served in many Student Affairs leadership positions. Kevin has been a proud Student Affairs professional for nearly 20 years. Throughout his career he has worked in Residence Life, Student Activities, Multicultural Affairs, International Students, Judicial Affairs and Academic Advising.
Kevin has had the experience of working for outstanding institutions in New York, Ohio, Virginia, and currently Maryland. Kevin has also served as a mentor to many students throughout his career, and also has proudly welcomed many new professional staff members into the field of Student Affairs.
Kevin received his undergraduate degree in American Studies/History from Bard College and his Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY Brockport.
He loves to spend time with his sons, sports and enjoys traveling.
MR. RODNEY PETERS, B.A., M.ED.
Assistant Director of Housing Services, Residence Life

As the Assistant Director of Housing Services, Mr. Peters is responsible for coordination of Housing Services for 6 university residence halls. Major responsibilities include: coordination of facilities operations, to include pest control, housekeeping, maintenance, security services, development and implementation of the facilities renewal and replacement plan. Fiscal responsibilities include, budget development, coordination of procurement, payment of bills and monitoring the departmental budget.
He has served in this position since August of 2004. Prior to this he served as Director of University Housing at Bowie State University from February of 2002 to July of 2004 and was employed as the Residence Life Coordinator at Bowie State University between March of 1987 and January of 1995.
Prior to his arriving at Bowie State he served in various positions in the field of student Housing to include; Director of Housing and Residence Life at Morgan State University, and Associate Director of Facilities and Operations at DePaul University.
Rodney Peters received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish from Morgan State University and his Masters of Education from Illinois State University.
Rodney has been active and involved in his profession over the years through participation in MACUHO and ACUHO-I. He has served two years on the Executive Board of the Association of College and University Housing Officers International.
MS. TRENITA JOHNSON, B.A.
Room Assignments Coordinator, Residence Life

As the Room Assignment Coordinator, Ms. Johnson is responsible for directing the housing assignment process. Some of her responsibilities include: managing the applications for new and returning students, coordinating housing assignments for new applicants, overseeing the Lottery Process for housing assignments for returning residents, managing the central office, creating publications and reports, as well as, managing the housing system, Odyssey HMS, which she was instrumental in bringing to the Office of Residence Life (ORL).
Ms. Johnson has served as the Room Assignments Coordinator since 2005. Prior to this, she served as a Resident Director and Office Assistant with the department. She also previously served as the Conference Services and Student Union Programmer with the J. Alexander Wiseman Centre and Conference Services and as the Logistics Coordinator for Pre-College Programs at Bowie State University.
Preceding her return to Bowie State University, Ms. Johnson was employed with the Baltimore City Public Schools System as a teacher. She was also a Special Education teach with the District of Columbia Public Schools System.
Trenita is a member of the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International. She also serves as the advisor to the Residence Hall Association and is the present Chair for the BSU Staff Council.
Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 1995 from Bowie State University. She is in the process of continuing her pursuit of a M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology at Bowie State University.
MS. JAIME MERCER, B.S.

Jaime Mercer has been a Resident Director at Bowie State University since July 27, 2016.
Prior to transitioning to Bowie State University, Jaime was employed at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio as a Residence Hall Coordinator, where she served in that position from November 2013 until July 2016. Jaime served on several committees at Central State including the Homecoming committee and working the Will Call ticket booth during home athletic event, as well as serving as the Interim Greek Affairs Coordinator from January 2015 until December 2015.
Prior to Central State, Jaime served as the owner and a stylist of Amairi Hair Designs in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She served as an entrepreneur there for 10 years. During her time in Elizabeth City, after graduating from Elizabeth City State University, Jaime served in many volunteer roles as a leadership seminar presenter and advisor for several organizations on campus, as well as working temporarily in the Office of Alumni Relations at Elizabeth City State for eleven months.
Jaime is a 2006 graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in marketing and management. Utilizing her degree in many different arenas, Jaime has been afforded many opportunities to serve as an independent writing consultant with the Chicago Bears and as an event planner. Jaime is currently attending Northcentral University in pursuit of a Master’s in Education with a specialization in Higher Education.
MS. ANTOINETTE MURRAY, B.A., M.S.

As the Resident Director of CMRC, in collaboration with Capstone On-Campus Management, she supports the needs of 460 first-year honors, upperclassmen, and graduate residents. Antoinette is responsible for the supervision, development, and evaluation of 10 Resident Assistants and a Graduate Assistant. Antoinette provides her staff with the leadership, encouragement, support, and continuing professional development opportunities needed to successfully create a home away from home for CMRC residents.
The partnership between the Office of Residence Life, Capstone On-Campus Management, and CMRC residents has fostered a community that supports reflective learning and challenges residents to seize educational leadership opportunities. Antoinette cultivates an engaging environment for residents that promotes academic excellence, student success, inclusivity, open-mindedness, respect, understanding, and the empowerment of students’ personal and professional endeavors.
Antoinette has served at the Resident Director of CMRC since January 2015. Some of Antoinette’s job responsibilities include advising, conduct intervention, conflict resolution, crisis management, event planning, programmatic budgeting, recruiting, and training among other administrative tasks. Prior to her arrival at Bowie State, she served as a Residence Director at Western New England University.
Antoinette attained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from SUNY College at Old Westbury. Antoinette went on to attain her Masters of Science in College Student Affairs with a Specialization in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University.
MS. APRIL STEVENS, B.A.

Prior to arriving at Bowie State University, Ms. Stevens was living in North Carolina. It was there she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Carolina University. There she was an orientation assistant and in that position she got her first glimpse into Student Affairs. Eventually she became a resident assistant and the rest is history.
After graduation, Ms. Stevens worked at The University of Mount Olive (formerly Mount Olive College) and Methodist University, two private, Christian universities. Bowie State University is the first HBCU she has worked at. She has been here since Summer 2012. Ms. Stevens has lived in Towers Hall and currently lives in Tubman Hall. During her time here she has served as a Resident Director for Towers Hall, Tubman Hall, Haley Hall, and Kennard Hall.
As a Resident Director, some of Ms. Stevens responsibilities include supervising Resident Assistants (RAs), coordinating spring and fall training for RAs, assisting residents with any academic concerns and personal concerns they may have. Ms. Stevens also serves as co-advisor to the Residence Hall Association (RHA).
Ms. Stevens is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Association of College & University Housing Officers (MACUHO) and actively participates in the Junior League of Annapolis. Her interests include working with first-generation college students and underrepresented, minority students.
MS. TATIA PACK, B.S.

As the Administrative Assistant for the Office of Residence Life, Mrs. Pack is the first point of contact for students, parents, vendors, faculty and staff. Major responsibilities include: assisting the Director of Residence Life with publications, assisting the Assistant Director of Residence Life with monitoring the department budget, assisting the Room Assignments Coordinator with room assignments, assisting the building services manager with follow up with maintenance issues in the residence halls. Responsibilities also include maintaining student workers time, and handling all administrative needs of the central office and central office staff.
Mrs. Pack has served as the Administrative Assistant II for the Office of Residence Life since Feb 2015. Prior to arriving at Bowie State Mrs. Pack worked as a compliance coordinator for local companies, TEK systems and Universal Mortgage and Finance, Inc.
Tatia Pack received her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and minor in music from Morgan State University and is currently working to receive her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Walden University.
