Anticipation Building for Campus Return

June 16, 2021

The impact of increased vaccination within the Bowie State community is becoming evident with zero positive cases detected in the campus COVID-19 testing program for the past three weeks. Vaccination remains the single best defense we have to protect our campus from the new variants of the virus as we prepare to reconnect and resume normal operations for the fall semester.

Preparations are accelerating and becoming more visible on campus each week sparking a new sense of positive anticipation. The football team is practicing in Bulldog Stadium getting ready to defend their championship title. Prospective students and families are again welcome to schedule tours of our beautiful campus. Furniture is being returned to collaboration spaces in academic and student life spaces awaiting students’ return. Classrooms are prepared for in-person instruction beginning in July.

Getting Ready to Reconnect

Staff who have not been on campus for the past year should take steps now to be prepared to return on July 12.

  • Visit your office before June 30 to assess the condition and need for any facility or DIT resources. Use this Return to Campus Office Checklist as a guide.
  • Submit your proof of vaccination to the Wellness Patient Portal or request an exemption for medical or religious reasons.
  • Think about how great it will be to greet colleagues as you walk across campus to an in-person meeting.

Still Need a Vaccination?

BSU offers the Moderna vaccine on campus every Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. by appointment or walk up. Schedule appointments through the Wellness Patient Portal. Marylanders can search for vaccine sites across the state at or by calling the COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center at 1-855-MDGOVAX. Vaccination can also be scheduled at local Walgreen, Walmart and other drug stores in your area.

If you have questions about the return-to-campus transition, please email and monitor the COVID-19 Updates web section for the latest information.
