The Career Development Center provides career planning, job search assistance, and programs to assist students and alumni in making meaningful career, educational, and life choices. Whether you are just beginning to explore careers, are searching for internships and cooperative education positions, are applying to graduate school, or preparing for a job search, we are here to help.

Our office is located in Room 126 of the Wiseman Centre and our office hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. On Wednesdays we offer walk-in services from 9:00am until 4:00pm.


The Career Development Center provides a wide variety of resources designed to meet the career development and employment needs of Bowie State University students and alumni.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA), Equal Employment Opportunity Staff, Minority College Relations Program is sponsoring a Student Forum on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Bowie State University, located in Bowie, Maryland. (Click on link for more information and registration) The event will target students from minority colleges and universities as well as institutions for individuals with disabilities.  This forum will provide students the opportunity to gain first-hand information from a panelist of DEA employees and guest speakers.  Breakout sessions will also be held with representatives from other federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, United States Secret Service, and Transportation Security Administration. DEA -- where every job is challenging and every mission is valued.  As the world’s leading drug enforcement agency, DEA offers rewarding career opportunities in a variety of disciplines.  These career opportunities include: Special Agent*, Intelligence Research Specialist*, Diversion Investigator*, Forensic Chemist*, Professional and Administrative Career Opportunities  (*Core Series Positions )

You are cordially invited to apply to be a 2013 Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) Student Scholar at the upcoming BEEP Conference held on June 5 -8, 2013 in Orlando, Florida. This year’s theme, “Prepare for Opportunity: Building Career Success.” The entire Conference is designed to further develop your leadership skills and provide you with networking opportunities with executives and hiring professionals from Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and other non-profit partners.

Students wishing to attend the BEEP Leadership Conference MUST
1.Be a rising sophomore, junior or senior.
2. Have a minimum 2.9 GPA
3. Submit a professional resume
4. Submit an essay addressing the following questions:
  1. Why are you interested in attending the BEEP Leadership Conference
  2. How do you perceive that this experience will assist you with your career goals
  3. How do you think this experience will assist you become a more effective leader
Essays should follow this presentation format:
  • Cover page with Applicant Name, Major and University name
  • Essay should be double spaces, one sided, and no more than 750 words
The resume and essay should be submitted electronically to no later than April 4, 2013. Once your essay and resume has been approved, you will be given the link to access the second part of the application process.
