III - 2.10 - Policy on Special Sessions
I. Policy and Purpose
Faculty teaching assignments shall be made consistent with Bowie State University (BSU) and University System of Maryland (USM) Policies and Procedures governing instruction during the academic year.
A. Scope: This policy shall apply to all special sessions (i.e., mini-semester, summer sessions) of BSU.
B. Eligibility: This policy shall apply to all faculty members eligible to teach in accordance with USM and BSU Policies and Procedures.
C. Responsibility: The Provost will assure BSU's compliance and adherence to this policy.
III. Guidelines and Standards
A. Faculty members eligible to teach in all Special Sessions for a given fiscal year, shall not exceed their regular compensation as specified in BSU Policy 1.23 - Policy on Maximum Annual Salary for Faculty.
B. Faculty members teaching in Special Sessions shall not exceed two (2) courses.
C. Chairs of Departments may teach one (1) course in the mini-semester or in the second summer session.
A system which addresses BSU's Policy and Procedures governing Special Sessions.
