"I Will Rock the Red Carpet."
Many young people dream about being on the red carpet, but Briana wants to be there with a microphone capturing celebrity stories with her own distinctive style. Bowie State’s program in broadcast communications is putting her on track to pursue her passion.
“A job is something you have to do, but a career is something you love to do,” she says. “Bowie is helping me to have a career as an entertainment reporter.” As a member of the Bowie Broadcast Association she’s getting hands-on experience interviewing campus celebrities and special guests, drawing on her lessons in writing, interviewing and production.
“I get the feeling that this is what I was meant to do,” says Briana. “The professors are always there, pushing and encouraging and providing the knowledge base for you to succeed. At Bowie you really gain confidence in yourself and your abilities.”
Briana says she knew Bowie State was the place for her on her first visit to campus. “It was such a welcoming and encouraging experience; it felt like home,” she says. “Students and faculty said everyone wants to help you succeed, and it’s true. Students really do help each other and want to see each other do well.”
