About Us

Mission Statement

Our mission is to engage students in designing and navigating their education, careers, and lives with intention and purpose—especially in a complex, rapidly changing world where career paths are not always straightforward.

Using a career and life design approach, we co-design plans with students that spark curiosity and empower agency as they shape their own career readiness. Through self-discovery, strengths development, professional skills refinement, and connection to meaningful, real-world experiential and employment opportunities, students build the competencies necessary for moving boldly forward with confidence and purpose to make an impact.

To support this work at scale, we collaborate with faculty, staff, employers, and community partners to expand and integrate hands-on learning and employment pathways—institutionalizing career readiness and experiential learning as defining hallmarks of the BSU undergraduate and graduate student experience.

Reorganization

As of May 2025, the Engage Center for Experiential Learning and Career Readiness has been reorganized, merging the following offices into a single unit as part of the university’s new Strategic Mission, Boldly Forward:
