Saxbys Café at Bowie State Grand Opening

I would like to invite you to join me in celebrating the grand opening of the Saxbys Experiential Learning Café at Bowie State University. This will be an exclusively student-run operation as part of the coffee company’s unique social impact mission. The café will be the first Saxbys Experiential Learning Café located outside of Pennsylvania and the first at a historically black college or university.

Saxbys founder and CEO Nick Bayer will join us at the Grand Opening to usher in a new era in experiential and entrepreneurship education at the university. I am proud to introduce Bowie State junior business administration major Devin Gallion as our first Saxbys Student Café Executive Officer. Devin will manage an outstanding team of 45 BSU students, oversee all café operations, and present profit and loss statements monthly to Saxbys’ executive team.

In addition to the Grand Opening celebration, I invite you to come learn about the entrepreneurial journey of the Saxbys CEO when he joins me for a Fireside Chat. Here are the event details:

The Saxbys Experiential Learning Program provides a unique educational opportunity that incorporates hands-on learning and the development of an entrepreneurial mindset, which is critical for success in today’s workforce. Students can easily access experiential learning on the campus with a partnership model like this one. Building partnerships is an important part of the Racing to Excellence Strategic Plan (pdf) as the university promotes academic excellence through innovative teaching and co-curricular experiences. Our Saxbys student team members have already demonstrated what they are learning during an interview segment on WUSA9 this past weekend. Visit the station’s website to see what they had to say.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Grand Opening to mark another significant milestone in the Race to Excellence.
