Bowie State University’s Entrepreneurship Academy is hosting a virtual idea pitch competition, with host Mei Xu, founder of Chesapeake Bay Candle, Fortune’s Most Powerful Woman, and Trustee of University of Maryland Baltimore. Xu is now focused on promoting women's business globally with her new e-commerce platform, Yes She May.
The event will feature BSU’s female student entrepreneurs, who will pitch their business ideas for feedback to a very distinguished panel of women who have entrepreneurial or funding backgrounds. The panelist will include Candace H. Duncan (Retired Managing Partner, of Metropolitan Washington, DC KPMG), Claire Broido Johnson (Managing Director, Maryland Momentum Fund), and Laura Neuman (Tech Entrepreneur, Mentor).
Also, during the event, the student entrepreneurs will have 3 minutes to pitch their business idea using a PowerPoint Pitch Deck, answer one question from only one of our distinguished panelists and have the opportunity to win a grant cash award provided by Mei Xu’s Foundation. In addition, Yumi Hogan, First Lady of the State of Maryland, is expected to bring welcome remarks, along with Bowie State President Aminta H. Breaux.
