VCDMA & HBCUCON presents 'A Different World: HBCU Geeks'
6:00 PM - 7:39 PM
HBCU Geeks have a unique lens at the intersection of two very unique communities. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been distinct educational and social environments for Black scholars (and other marginalized groups) since the abolition of slavery in 1865. HBCUs opened their doors to all at a time when most other institutions had outrageously low quotas for people of color…if not refused admission altogether. In a “post-racial” society, why are HBCUs still relevant today? What is the HBCU [geek] experience? Find out why these geeks have HBCU Pride!
