The First Black Male Educators are Black Fathers

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

We invite the campus community, fathers, teachers, administrators, teacher candidates, families, the community, concerned stakeholders, and advocates to join us for an evening to discuss and celebrate Black fatherhood and their love for their daughters. Black fathers are the first Black male educators for Black children who are not often given credit for taking care of their children and families. There is an inescapable and pervasive negative narrative and portrayal of Black fathers in the media and society. The Girl Dad Project is a collective of Black fathers committed to Black children who intentionally and lovingly focus on their daughters. The CRM-BMST will host a forum with Girl Dads about Black fatherhood and their love for their daughters. Program features:

  • Girl Dad Reception with Food and Drinks

  • Father-Daughter Photo Op

  • Black Fatherhood Forum

This critical conversation will also feature the book The Girl Dad Project: Voices, Lessons, and Reflections from Black Men on Positive Parenting, featuring 12 fathers who will share their fatherhood journey.
