Biography

Dr. Jared E. Moffett serves as the Executive Director of Career and Experiential Education at Bowie State University. In this capacity, Dr. Moffett is leading the strategic reorganization and restructuring of four distinct offices into a unified unit for Career Readiness and Experiential Learning. He works closely with internal and external stakeholders to integrate career readiness and experiential learning into both the curriculum and cocurriculum across the university.

With over 25 years of cross-sector experience in higher education and K–12 settings, Dr. Moffett is a mission-driven, multidimensional servant leader committed to advancing student learning, development, retention, and success. His core expertise is in strategically implementing evidence-based, high-impact practices—aligned with national standards—that elevate students’ career success and occupational well-being. Dr. Moffett specializes in the intentional integration of career readiness and experiential learning across both the curriculum and cocurriculum. At this critical intersection, he empowers students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally—preparing them not just for a job, but for a fulfilling life and career. Rooted in equity, innovation, and transformation, he designs systems, build collaborative teams, and forge strategic partnerships that shape purposeful, future-ready graduates.

Dr. Jared E. Moffett joined Bowie State University in January 2023 as the founding Director of Experiential Learning and now serves as the Executive Director of Career and Experiential Education. Prior to his appointment at Bowie State, Dr. Moffett held a range of leadership positions at the University of the District of Columbia, including Executive Director of Career Services, Director of Career Services for the Main Campus, Director of Career Services for the Community College Campus, and Adjunct Professor.

Earlier in his career, he served at Northern Virginia Community College as Special Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Services, founding Assistant Coordinator of Cooperative Education, Career and Academic Counselor, and Faculty Professor in the Student Development academic department. His work in K–12 education includes service as a School Guidance Counselor at both Digital Harbor High School and Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in the Baltimore City Public Schools System.

Dr. Moffett also has served as an Administrative Assistant for Work-Study in the Admissions and Financial Aid Office at Frostburg State University, as well as in roles with community health and mental health organizations, including Mental Health Assistant Counselor, Addictions Counselor, Counselor Technician, and Behavioral Intervention Teacher.

A committed educator, Dr. Moffett has taught college-level courses in behavioral health, counseling, psychology, education, and student development, reflecting his interdisciplinary expertise and student-centered approach.

Born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland, Dr. Moffett is a proud graduate of the University System of Maryland.
