Outreach

The Center for Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies extends its mission beyond the classroom through a range of outreach programs designed to build interest and skill in computing, cybersecurity, and emerging technology fields. These initiatives serve middle and high school students, underrepresented groups in tech, undergraduates preparing for careers in AI and cybersecurity, and industry partners across the region, helping to grow a diverse, well-prepared pipeline of future technology professionals.

Our outreach efforts include:

• Cybersecurity Awareness month: Annual activities and events held each October to promote cyber hygiene and security awareness across the campus and surrounding community.
• Computer Science Applications Summer Camp: An academic and social experience for middle and high school students that introduces the many fields within computing and builds computational thinking skills.
• ExLent AI Internship Program: An NSF-funded pathway into AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity careers, combining training, professional development, and a paid summer internship.
• AI and Data Science Conference: An annual conference bringing together experts, faculty, and students for keynotes, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and a student innovation showcase at the intersection of AI, data science, and cybersecurity.
