My Art Heals

Thesis Statement

In this series, my journey is reflected in change, growth, and healing. As a member of the LGBTQ community, the Black community, and also as a woman, I have witnessed and experienced forms of discrimination, passive aggression, and common displays of discomfort. I once was hurt by this, but as time went on I visualized these emotions and figured out a way to visualize a solution.

  • ‘My Art Heals’ is a senior thesis series of paintings that touches on grief, social justice milestones, and moments of self-discovery. Art has been a form of personal expression for me since childhood. My art focuses on the surreal outlook of life that is formed by inspiration and everyday accomplishments that we experience as human beings in the Black and LGTBQ communities.
