Department of History & Government

Distance Education and Learning

The Department of History and Government offers some undergraduate tele-courses in history and philosophy, via College of the Air, in partnership with Maryland Public Television (MPT). This academic program is structured in a manner that allows students to earn some college credits, with minimum campus visits or presence, which they can use or apply toward a degree. These kinds of courses are video-enhanced with the instructors assigning the reading materials, determining the dates and locations of examinations, and issuing final grades. These College of the Air tele-courses are mostly suitable for students with demanding jobs, tight professional schedules, and challenging personal and family responsibilities, yet who are self-motivated and disciplined enough to apply themselves in order to do the required amount of reading and studying.

The department participates in distance education programs and offers some online courses via BSU Online.
