Director's Message

The Academic Advisement Center (AAC) at Bowie State University is committed to assisting students in identifying and completing their educational goals in a friendly, helpful, and professional environment. The Center’s professional advisors deliver services to all students at the University, but they focus primarily on the advisement, development, and retention of first and second-year students.

The Center for Academic Advising provides centralized services for first-year, second-year, and new transfer students entering Bowie State University to smooth their transition into the campus culture. Advisors work closely with each student to help them explore personal and life goals and develop a strategy for completion of the academic requirements to attain their goals.

The Academic Advising Center is a hub for students with less than 60 credits to access services and track academic milestones. The focus is on enhancing academic performance by helping each student to take responsibility for understanding and navigating their program of study, and helping exploratory majors find their educational niche in college.

After students complete the university’s required placement testing program, the Academic Advising Center assists them to select courses and select courses and register for the semster for the semester. Students will develop a two-year educational plan and meet regularly with the advisor to discuss challenges and access campus resources to stay on track to graduation.
