The Academic Advisement Center (AAC) at Bowie State University is committed to assisting students in identifying and completing their educational goals in a friendly, helpful, and professional environment. The Center’s professional advisors deliver services to all students at the University, but they focus primarily on the advisement, development, and retention of first and second-year students.

Academic advising is by appointment only. Students may log onto ICAN/Starfish to schedule an appointment with their assigned advisor. You may utilize our Academic Advisor Directory to assist with identifying your assigned advisor.

About the Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center advises students having earned less than 60 credits in most majors. Students in the following majors are required to schedule academic advising appointments with an advisor within their academic department:
- Computer Science
- Education (including ELEM, ECED, SPM)
- Fine & Performing Arts
Transfer and students with 15 or more credits with majors in Fine and Performing Arts should be advised directly in the department (Fine Arts (Studio Art, Music, Music Technology); Theatre Arts (Acting & Directing and Dance) and VCDMA. - Language, Literature and Cultural Studies
- Nursing
- Social Work
- Technology and Security
Students having earned 60 or more credits must schedule an academic advising appointment with their department.
