July 2, 2026 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Partially Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Thursday, July 2, 2026, due to the extreme heat condition taxing campus systems. Majority of the campus will be closed, and all campus activities are canceled except for the Nike Tennis Camp and 2026 Summer SURI Forum and Workshops. All buildings except the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Student Center and residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. The Student Center is responsible for the overall management of the building and coordinates culturally enriched programs in a relaxed atmosphere. 

The center is also responsible for conference services and is the information center for the university. Our focus is to serve our students, faculty, staff, and the community at large.

The game room offers an outlet from the daily classroom routine. Inside the wireless game room, you will find billiard tables, ping-pong tables, state-of-the-art video systems, and a vending area.

Within in the Student Center there are a variety of eateries to satisfy the appetites of the campus community. The Pub is also available for sandwiches and convenience items.

The Student Center's purpose is to provide facilities, services, and to promote programs that are responsive to student development needs and to the physical, social, recreational and continuing educational needs of the campus community.
