The INTELLI (Intelligent Engineering Lab for Large Information) is dedicated to advancing intelligent systems for large-scale data, high-performance computing, and responsible artificial intelligence. Led by Dr. Bo Yang, the lab develops scalable AI architectures, trustworthy machine learning frameworks, and advanced computational infrastructures that support national security, aerospace research, and public-sector innovation.

INTELLI focuses on building intelligent systems that are scalable, explainable, and deployment-ready, bridging foundational research with real-world implementation.

Leadership & Recognition

Dr. Yang was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to serve as the Education Sector Representative on Maryland’s Workgroup on Artificial Intelligence Implementation. This state-level advisory body monitors AI developments and provides policy guidance for responsible and ethical AI adoption across Maryland

Core Research Areas

INTELLI focuses on three integrated research pillars:

  1. Trustworthy and Scalable Artificial Intelligence
  2. Large-Scale Data Systems & Knowledge Engineering
  3. High-Performance & Heterogeneous Secure Computing

The lab supports planetary science data preservation and interoperability through its work with NASA's Planetary Data System Small Bodies Node.
