Adobe-Bowie State Cybersecurity Workforce Event

This event aims to bring together students, faculty, and the community interested in cybersecurity, featuring subject matter experts to discuss industry trends and concerns. The objectives include positioning Nubiaa and Maarten as experts in cybersecurity and privacy policy, fostering discussions on cybersecurity workforce issues, highlighting Bowie State's unique perspective as an HBCU, and showcasing efforts by Adobe and Bowie State to address the cyber talent gap. The event will consist of a 60-minute fireside chat with Nubiaa and Maarten, moderated by Dr. Shumba, with possible discussion topics to be determined, including potential participation from ONCD representatives to discuss the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy.
NSA/CNO Information Event

An information session hosted by NSA Subject Matter Experts is offering insights into Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), Computer Network Defense (CND), and Computer Network Attack (CNA). The session will provide an overview of the NSA's mission, CNO Primary Priorities, the Codebreaker Challenge, and highlight critical need opportunities within these domains. If you have an interest in these areas, this session is a must-attend.
Myriad Genetics

Myriad Genetics is hosting an informational event at Bowie State University, where attendees can register via a QR code and participate in a survey for a chance to win prizes, including gift cards and Myriad swag packs. Myriad Genetics, a leading genetic testing and precision medicine company, offers insights into disease risk, progression, and treatment decisions. They routinely accept interns in various disciplines, including Computer Science majors, and aim to create the next generation of leaders in genetic testing and precision medicine. The event's goals are to connect with students for future opportunities at Myriad, provide an overview of the company, and gather feedback for potential future collaborations between Myriad and BSU.
Winter 2023
Winter 2023 Retention Program
The Computer Science Department will be hosting a series of professional development workshops to increase program retention. The workshops will run from January 9th to 27th, followed by a showcase at the beginning of March where students exhibit team projects. The proposed workshops aim to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in summer internships and contribute to retention. The training program is in response to the feedback from the employers who hired our students for the Summer 2022 internships.

From Interview to Offer: How to navigate these steps to start your career

Come join our All-Star TCS panel as we virtually present ways to help you navigate the hiring process from Interview to Offer. Nathan Pierce, TCS Diversity Program Officer and HBCU graduate will host our event, which includes, Mohamed Hassan, TCS Technical Architect, and HBCU graduate, speaking about how to prepare for the technical interview, and giving some tips on preparing for whiteboard interviews. While TCS Campus Recruiter, Joe Leos will discuss best practices for both in-person and virtual interviews, and finally TCS Campus Recruiter, Jordan Hunt will help you break down your offer letter. What is in the offer letter, when do you negotiate salary, what is total compensation, and more.
