Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management Concentration


Bowie State is the first historically black college or university in Maryland to host a small business incubator and one of only a few in the country to offer an academic program in entrepreneurship. We’ll help you monetize your passion and develop the skills necessary to manage a profitable and impactful business.

Return to the Department of Management, Marketing & Public Administration

As a student in this program, you’ll learn how to identify emerging business opportunities, conduct essential market research and manage the venture financing process. Discover how to carve your own path. You will:

  • Communicate ideas in business plans and proposals.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans.
  • Use new technology to manage projections, statements and forecasting.
  • Assess financial needs, cash flow for growth and break-even analyses.
  • Learn how to apply an entrepreneur’s perspective to large organizations.
