The Idea to Impact Graduate Research Fellowship supports high-potential graduate students conducting original summer research, creative inquiry, or applied scholarship that demonstrates clear innovation potential and meaningful scholarly, professional, or societal impact. The fellowship is designed to move promising ideas toward tangible outcomes—publications, presentations, creative works, pilot data, or externally competitive proposals.
The fellowship also serves as a leadership and professional development opportunity. Fellows will act as Graduate School Ambassadors, representing a culture of research excellence, intellectual curiosity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Call for Applications
The Graduate School invites applications for the Idea to Impact Graduate Research Fellowship, a competitive $5,000 summer award supporting graduate students engaged in original research, creative inquiry, or applied scholarship.
This fellowship is designed to help students move promising ideas toward meaningful outcomes—publications, pilot data, presentations, performances, or externally competitive grant proposals.
Fellowship Responsibilities
Recipients will:
- Conduct research during the summer award period
- Present their work at the Graduate School’s Transformative Synergies Conference in the Fall semester
- Serve as a Graduate School Ambassador, supporting research visibility and graduate engagement
- Acknowledge Graduate School support in all resulting outputs
Award Details
- Award Amount: $5,000 (summer stipend)
- Eligibility: Graduate students in good academic standing
- Fields: Open to all disciplines
- Award Period: Summer term
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Research Plan
- Evidence of Innovation Potential
- Statement of Long-Term Research Goals (max. 1 page)
- Faculty Mentor Support Statement (max. 1 page)
- Applicant Information & Certifications
All applicants must have a faculty advisor/mentor willing to actively support the project. Email grc@bowiestate.edu with your submissions.
