Criminal Justice Major
Program Requirements
As one of the top majors in the country, criminal justice provides a core liberal arts education for students interested in a broad range of traditional professions, alternative career paths and advanced education options. We offer two degrees in the program: the Bachelor of Science, which requires no foreign language classes, and the Bachelor of Arts, which requires the completion of 12 hours of a foreign language. The major entails 36 hours of core curriculum and 21 hours in one of three concentrations: forensic science, community-based corrections and social justice. As part of their coursework, students also complete a practicum or field experience course that gives them hands-on, in-the-field work experience. All students are required to enroll in Seminar in Criminal Justice (CRJU 414) during their senior year.
