Credentials and Licensure

 

Students interested in careers in social work can pursue education through the doctoral level. The following degrees are available:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) (BSSW)*
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Doctor of Social Work (DSW)
  • Doctor of Philosphy (PhD) in Social Work

Professional social workers must be certified by the Maryland Licensure Board after obtaining a degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education

Licensed Social Worker Associate (LSWA) - Bachelor of Social Work

Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) - Master of Social Work

Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) - Master of Social Work

Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) - Master of Social Work
