Conroy Scholarship

The Edward T. and Mary A. Conroy Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible Maryland students, including veterans, servicemembers, and qualifying dependents, as defined by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). 
 
Eligible students may receive an annual scholarship amount of up to $3,000 per student over the academic year –subject to annual state funding allocations, institutional policy and meeting eligibility requirements for the scholarship. 

Funding availability from MHEC is limited each year. Eligibility does not guarantee an award. Awards are subject to availability. 

 

How to Apply 

Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to renewing students. Initial applicants will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. Application must be submitted by close of business on July 15, 2026, to be considered. 

  • Please submit completed application along with all required documentation through your Bulldog Connection portal using the secure link located under your “To Do List.” All applications must be submitted no later than July 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

    Upload completed application (Select “other” in the drop down and name your document “Conroy Application.”) 
     

Eligibility Requirements 

To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking student at Bowie State University 
  • Be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours each semester 
  • Maintain in-state residency status and receive in-state tuition rates at the time of application 

Application Submission Policy 

  • All applications must be submitted no later than close of business, July 15, 2026. 
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered. The Office of Financial Aid Office will not reach out to request missing or updated documents; please ensure your submission is complete before uploading. 

Renewal Policy 

  • Automatic Renewals: Current awards will be automatically renewed by the Office of Financial Aid, provided all eligibility requirements are met. Award amounts are subject to funding availability and may be adjusted based on the current term limit. 
  • Duration: Awards may be held for five (5) years of full-time study (12+ credits/semester) or eight (8) years of part-time study (6–11 credits/semester), or a combination of both. 
  • Note: Audited or waitlisted courses do not count toward the minimum credit hour requirements. Your award will be canceled if you fall below the minimum required credit hours. 
  • Transfer students whose initial application was approved at another institution must submit a new application to be considered for the scholarship at Bowie State University.
