Deposit Policy

First-time freshmen and transfer students must pay non-refundable $325 housing deposit once their room assignment has been confirmed. Deposit payment instructions will be provided in your housing assignment letter.

Complete the Fall 2026 Housing Application

Important Dates

  • February 1, 2026 
    The application opens for incoming freshmen and new transfer students.
  • April 6, 2026
    The application opens for current ELLC & CMRC residents who are renewing their leases and returning to the same building.
  • April 8, 2026
    The application opens for current traditional housing residents.
  • April 13, 2026
    The application opens for all students.

Requirements for New Students

  • Enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) for the semester
  • Completed and submitted Commit Form.
  • Paid Enrollment deposit.

Requirements for Returning Students

  • Enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) for the semester.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of move-in.
  • In good financial standing with Bowie State University and Capstone/COCM (the university-affiliated housing partner)
  • Housing is not guaranteed at any property.

How to Apply

  1. Login with your BSU username 
  2. Click ‘Applications and Forms’
  3. Complete the application for the appropriate semester​
  4. Parents of students under the age of 17 (at the time of application) must complete the Parental Verification form. The form will be sent via email.
Apply for Fall 2026 Housing 

Please note: Students who do not meet the above eligibility requirements will not be able to access the Spring Housing Application through the Housing Portal.

Roommate Requests

Bowie State University Housing cannot accommodate roommate requests for the Spring semester. Assignments are based on the date your application is completed and the availability of spaces vacated after the Fall semester.

Cancellation Policy

Students can submit a Housing Cancellation request through the Housing Portal. Please note that submitting a cancellation is a request only and may be denied depending on where the student is in the housing process.

Before submitting your request, be sure to review the Housing Cancellation Policy outlined in your Housing Agreement for information about deadlines, fees, and eligibility. Additionally, please remember that ELLC and CMRC operate under separate housing licenses with different cancellation guidelines.
