Each room includes a bed, desk, chair, closet and dresser. Remember to pack light and only bring the essential items you need, initially. Storage will be your closet space and under your bed. We encourage you to coordinate with your roommate in advance of arriving to plan possible shared items.

Students with prohibited items will be documented and the items will be confiscated. Only home and cooking appliances will be returned at the end of each semester.

Guns of any kind (BB guns, water guns and other toys included)
All forms of alcohol, including homemade packaged alcohol and alcohol bottles as decorations
Extension cords, including those without auto shut off and bed risers with outlets
LED lights/Christmas lights, lava lamps, halogen lamps, etc.
Refrigerators larger than 4 cubic feet, air conditioners, ceiling fans, electric heaters, electric blankets
Pets (Excluding service animals and emotional support animals approved by BSU’s Disability Support Services)
Gas-fueled or electric motorized transportation, including scooters, bikes, skateboards, hoverboards, etc., is prohibited inside the residence halls
Standalone microwaves, air fryers, George Foreman style grills, panini presses, sandwich makers, rice cookers, pressure cookers, crock pots, waffle makers, toasters, toaster ovens, griddles, hot plates/single cooking eye, traditional coffee pots, electric frying pans, etc. (These appliances are permitted in CMRC and The Nine only.)
Open Flames—including but not limited to —candles, tea light candles, incense, hookah devices, etc.
Bowie State University is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property. Please review your parents or guardians’ homeowners’ policy. You can also purchase insurance from College Student Insurance Agency, Inc. or National Student Services, Inc.
