July 2, 2026 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Partially Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Thursday, July 2, 2026, due to the extreme heat condition taxing campus systems. Majority of the campus will be closed, and all campus activities are canceled except for the Nike Tennis Camp and 2026 Summer SURI Forum and Workshops. All buildings except the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Student Center and residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. 1. NCUR 2026 in Richmond, Virginia

  • Registration closes; March 6
  • NCUR is one of the largest conferences in the country designed specifically for undergraduate students. It brings together thousands of students from all majors—business, STEM, social sciences, and more—to present original research, creative projects, or academic work. It’s a great opportunity to build your resume, gain presentation experience, and connect with students and faculty nationwide. Many students use NCUR as a stepping stone for graduate school or competitive internships, and it’s widely recognized across universities.

2. National Student Leadership Forum. - Congressional Fellows Program 

The Congressional Fellows Program is a summer leadership experience designed for undergraduate students interested in government, policy, and leadership. Hosted in the DC area, this program combines networking, professional development, and exposure to how government operates. Students engage with policymakers, attend leadership sessions, and gain insight into careers in public service. It’s especially valuable if you’re considering law school, federal work, or leadership roles in business or nonprofit sectors.

How to register:
Students apply directly through the program’s website. The process usually includes submitting an online application, resume, and sometimes a short statement of interest. Deadlines are typically in the spring for summer sessions.

3. Industry Studies Association Annual Conference

The Industry Studies Association (ISA) Conference focuses on real-world industries like construction, finance, manufacturing, and technology. For undergraduate students, this conference is a great way to understand how industries actually operate beyond the classroom. You’ll hear from professionals, researchers, and economists, and it’s especially relevant if you’re exploring careers in business, consulting, or construction management. Students can attend sessions, network, and sometimes present research.
