The Engage Center partners with campus and national initiatives to bring students engagement programs and experiences that further advance your career and professional development beyond the classroom. These programs help you build confidence, expand your network, and enhance your marketability as you prepare for meaningful work and life after graduation.
TMCF Leadership Institute
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute is an immersive development experience designed to strengthen leadership, professional competencies, and career readiness. Participants engage in workshops, mentoring, and networking with peers and professionals from across the TMCF consortium.
Program Highlights:
- Leadership skill building and executive development
- Professional workshops and speaker sessions
- Networking with faculty, staff, alumni, and peers
- Career planning activities and goal setting
Program Criteria:
- Classification: Generally juniors or seniors during the 2026–2027 academic year.
- Academic Standing: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Graduation Date: Anticipated between December 2026 and May 2028.
- Character & Ability: Demonstrated leadership, potential for growth, and active participation in extracurricular activities.
- Degrees and Majors: Business, STEM, or related majors are highly preferred, other majors may also apply.
- Employment Status: Must not have accepted full-time employment prior to the conference.
TMCF DevCon
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund DevCon (Development Conference) is a professional development conference that brings students together with corporate, nonprofit, and government leaders. DevCon focuses on skill development, industry insights, and networking opportunities.
Program Heatures:
- Employer panels and industry talks
- Skills workshops and breakout sessions
- Career fair engagements with recruiters
- Professional readiness sessions
Program Criteria:
- Classification: Generally freshmen or sophomores
HBCU Career Development Marketplace
The HBCU Career Development Marketplace Conference connects students with a wide range of employers actively recruiting HBCU talent. This event emphasizes career exploration, professional engagement, and recruitment opportunities in addition to direct access to employers seeking diverse, prepared candidates.
Program Highlights:
- Employer recruiting sessions and interviews
- Resume reviews and branding support
- Skills workshops on job search and career planning
- Networking with recruiters and fellow students
Strengths 2nd Year Experience
The Strengths 2nd Year Experience is a strengths-based engagement program designed for second-year students who have completed the Clifton Strengths Assessment. This experience helps students connect career exploration and career development to their personal strengths, empowering them to lead with what they do best as they clarify career direction and prepare for experiential learning, internships, and employment.
Program Focus:
- Strengths assessment and self-awareness to identify and understand individual talents
- Strengths-based career exploration and planning, connecting interests and goals to potential career paths
- Workshops and guided reflection focused on applying strengths in academic, professional, and leadership settings
Program Criteria:
- Classfication: Sophomore student
- Assessment: Prior completion of the CliftonStrengths assessment
